Scope and Contents These papers were given to the Library in 1973/4 by Mr Gary Clover who was involved in anti-apartheid activities in Auckland between 1968 to 1974. These years saw protests in New Zealand against contact with South Africa in various sports, culminating in the banning of a Springbok rugby tour by the Labour Government under Norman Kirk in 1973. Collection consists of a copy of an open letter addressed to the Government and people of South Africa, for presentation to the Manager of the Springbok team and a petition calling on Dr Claasen, team manager, to give South Africans an "honest record" of New Zealand's view of the tour by placing the volume in the South African Rugby Board's Museum.

The volume is accompanied by two letters relating to the issue.
