Biographical / Historical

The N.Z.C.A.B.T.A. was formed from existing regional branches in September 1959. The objective of the organisation was to combat racial discrimination in the selection of the 1960 rugby team to tour South Africa... Towards this end, the Association circulated a nation-wide petition to protest the exclusion of Maori players on racial grounds. It also made deputations to the N.Z. Rugby Union, lobbied Members of Parliament and gained the support of leading citizens and organisations.
