Of these, 49 open reel tape field recordings were made in Samoa and American Samoa between 1966 and 1969 during his field work for Masters and later Doctoral degrees at the University of Auckland. On the 50th anniversary of the collection in 2015, the Archive undertook a digitisation project, allowing the recordings to be made publicly available online. 64 open reel copies were made and collection records were updated with greater detail.
