Biographical / Historical
The Trade Union Education Authority (TUEA) was established by the fourth Labour government in July 1986. TUEA offered education and training for workers, with paid leave provision of up to five days of education per year. Seven regional TUEA offices were established along with a national office in Wellington. TUEA was disestablished by the subsequent National government in 1992. During its existence, TUEA provided 150,000 participant days of approved education to New Zealand workers. For many participants, this was their first experience of post-secondary education.
