8 notebooks., 1969 - 1969
Scope and Contents
This sub series consists of notebooks arranged chronologically in bundles of 8 to 15 individual books for ease of handling.
The notebooks, some of which were used by McAra and others by Wilsie, contain handwritten study and research notes on Marxist theory. However, although clearly labelled for a particular topic and paginated, many of the books are almost empty. Some contain related newspaper clippings and copied reading material.
The number of books which appear to contain Diana Wilsie’s study notes may reflect her desire as a new party member to study Marxist-Leninist theory under McAra’s guidance.
Entries in the notebooks date mainly from 1968-1973, and then tail off, presumably as publishing took up more of McAra and time Wilsie’s time.
The small notebooks (dating from 1954-1987) at the beginning of the sequence contain more varied material, including meeting minutes, travel details, financial calculations and addresses. One of these notebooks relates to sales of the People’s voice and another to McAra’s trip to Europe in the mid 1950s.
