Scope and Contents

This collection includes minutes, correspondence, membership lists and financial records. The collection covers the period from 1873, when the union was first formed, until 1986 making them amongst the oldest surviving trade union records in New Zealand.

This collection also includes minute books and correspondence relating to the Auckland Building Trades Council for the period 1934 to 1944.

The collection mainly consists of the records of the Wellington, Marlborough and Nelson Plasterers Union before amalgamation (1945) with other plasterers' unions. The records include correspondence, minutes, accounts and award negotiation documents.
