Scope and Contents
Both Bill McAra and Diana Wilsie were prominent members of the Waihi strike commemoration committee. This series contains papers pertaining to the organisation of the annual commemoration at the grave of Frederick George Evans and their efforts to have a memorial plaque for Evans erected in Waihi. From 1984 there is also material relating to the commemoration of Ernie Abbott’s death.
Frederick Evans was killed during the 1912 Miners' Strike in Waihi, and Ernie Abbott was killed by a bomb at the Trades Hall in Wellington in 1984.
