Collection contains material collected by Joris de Bres, Vice President of the Citizens Association for Racial Equality (CARE) relating to the Pacific Islands and to the Overstayers issue, 1974-1977 and Pacific Islanders' position in New Zealand during the 1970s. Includes newspapers clippings, subject files and some correspondence.

Scope and Contents

Leaflets, booklets, newsletters, clippings, and some correspondence relating to the work of the New Zealand Peace Council, anti-apartheid organisations such as HART and CARE, and anti-Vietnam War organisations. The material was arranged by organisation and housed in labelled vertical files. Two taped interviews with Mr Tuxford are at MSS & Archives 97/12, items 5.4 and 5.5.

Richard Northey papers.

The majority of the papers relate to Northey's activities in the Labour Government 1984-90 and include papers of select committees, caucus committees, and correspondence with constituents. Associated material relates to non-parliamentary activities including membership of CND, CARE, the New Zealand Labour Party, the Auckland City Council, and as Auckland Regional Advisory Officer for the Department of Internal Affairs.
