Scope and Contents
The bulk of the collection consists of photographic prints taken in the early 1900s by Edward Payton. The photographs are mainly of landscapes taken by Payton during his travels around Aotearoa New Zealand, but there are also photographs of Māori, Pākehā settlers, pā sites and settlements. The collection also contains etchings by Payton and photocopies from his sketchbooks.
The collection includes sepia-toned and black and white images in a variety of print sizes.

Photo-album with pictures of New Zealand at the beginning of the 20th-century, showing landscapes and the customs and costumes of the Ma¯ori people. It is a presentation album to Rear-Admiral A. F. Beal, with compliments of Richard Francis Bollard (1863-1927), Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington, New Zealand. The album is dated 31st August 1926.
