The journal of Charles Pickering in his handwriting, kept by him while on the United States Exploring Expedition (Wilkes Commander). This journal contains detailed descriptions of various islands in the Pacific, including Hawaii, Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island, New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Coral Islands as well as descriptions of S.E. Australia, Antarctic continent, Chile and Peru.
