Scope and Contents

The core of this collection is an audio casette tape titled Wireless telegraphy episodes in Wellington, 1911-1914, and episodes Radio Broadcast Station 2YK, Wellington, 1922-25. The accompanying papers include a memoir by Thomas Clarkson, former Chief Telegraph Engineer with the New Zealand Post and Telegraph Department, of the early days of radio transmission.

Arthur S. Atkinson a Maori account of the campaign against the Hauhaus on the East Coast.

Contains a Ngati Porou account of the campaign against the Hauhau on the East Coast, and the campaign against Te Kooti around Gisborne and the Urewera district; also contains notes about Maori customs surrounding the transfer of land, various waiata and information about the arrival of Christianity on the East Coast; also contains a biographical note and whakapapa about Te Kani-a-Takirau.
