Scope and Contents This collection consists of material left in the Department of Geography by Professor Kenneth Cumberland when he retired in 1978. Among the papers are files of correspondence, drafts and typescripts, offprints,and photographs collected by Cumberland for publication purposes. The records were found in the Geography Department store room by the Records Management Programme Manager in 2012, accompanied by a note to Warren Moran stating "These are some bits and pieces of K.B....

Scope and Contents Chapman was a meticulous collector of almost every record of his life and has left an extraordinarily rich legacy in his papers. One example gives a sense of the depth of material contained in this collection: in the folder relating to the NZUSA 14th Congress at Curious Cove in 1952 (series 14, item 617), we find correspondence relating to Chapman’s literary contribution, speech notes and clippings about the event, and even a photograph of the attendees.
