University of Auckland Library art ephemera collection.
Scope and Contents
The Fine Arts Library collected printed art ephemera from the 1960s until the closure of the Library in early 2020.
The collection focuses on New Zealand artists and galleries, as well as festivals, events and awards. Overseas artists who have extensively exhibited and made other significant contributions to art in New Zealand are also included in the collection.
Files may includes items such as advertisements, artist's statements, brochures, posters and flyers, invitations, memorabilia, and price lists.

Arrangement
The collection consists of 5 series, the largest of which are then further divided into alphabetical sequences.
Series 1: Artists – contains ephemera relating to individual artists, arranged alphabetically by surname. The final subseries contains ephemera relating to groups or collectives.
Series 2: Galleries – contains ephemera from specific galleries, subdivided into alphabetical sequence. Some material is duplicated with the artists' files but also includes unique ephemera relating to large group shows or other events and activites which are not specific to individual artists or groups.
Series 3: Festivals, Awards and Events – contains ephemera and communications relating to specific events.
Series 4: Elam School of Fine Arts - contains brochures, posters, and flyers for events and shows at or relating to the School but not those held at its formal gallery spaces, such as Projectspace or the George Fraser Gallery, which have their own gallery files in Series 3.
Series 5: Emerging artists - arranged alphabetically these files contain material relating to new and emerging artists, prior to 2020 when the collection was being actively added to these files may have in time been transferred to the run of artist's files in Series 1.
Duplicate copies of ephemera may exist in different files where inclusion is warranted. An historic practice of photocopying additional copies for the various files is also in evidence.
