Scope and Contents

Early reminiscences of Auckland describing Bartley's arrival in 1854, and his work as a carpenter and the buildings he worked on. There are a few anecdotes about the New Zealand Wars, an account of the "eight hour" movement, and brief summaries of his involvement in technical education and the Auckland art scene. Typescript document the contents of which Bartley may have given as a presentation.
