Biographical Note

Jan Kemp is a poet, short story writer and public performer. She was born in Hamilton in 1949 and studied at the University of Auckland, graduating in English in 1974. From 1975 – 1999, and from 2007, she was mostly based overseas. She was awarded a PEN-Stout Fellowship at Victoria University in 1991. In 2005 she was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to literature.
