Scope and Contents

From the Series:

The papers in this series relate to a research project undertaken by Judith Huntsman with Maureen Molloy on the demography of Nukunonu in the period following the catastrophic loss of population due to raids by 'slave ships' in 1863. Their findings were published as Population regeneration in Tokelau: the case of Nukunonu. Journal of the Polynesian Society, March 1996, Vol.105(1).

A number of files in this series include original census forms – which note the names/dates of birth/sex etc. for individuals in each fale.

Items 5/30 and 5/31 relate to the work of Ian Hunter and Terry Weblemoe who were third year students in Dr Peter Sheppard’s statistical anthropology paper 03.326.
