Scope and Contents
This Agreement foreshadowed the Treaty of Friendship between Britain and Tonga concluded on the 29 November, 1879, and is referred to in a letter from A.P. Maudslay to Sir Arthur Gordon dated the 30 September, 1878, and in Despatch No. 12 of the 14 October, 1878, Acting High Commissioner to Secretary of State.
