Biographical / Historical
In an announcement Turau Te Tomo says that according to the people who own the chant, it was used on the 8 April 1946 for one fo the sacred oars of the Tainui waka, namely Hauhau-i-te-rangi. Even though Te Arawa says that Hauhau-i-te-rangi is an axe, we should leave Waikato their belief that it was an oar!
