(1) Indenture made on the 20 October, 1871, in which Lesaa, a chief in the District of Alapata, Upolu, Sumoa, pledges a parcel of land to Bazley Lager (sic) a British subject residing at Alapata, as security for the repayment with "two months" of the sum of $75 lent to Lesan by Bazley Lager (sic). (2) Indenture made on the 20 February, 1872, witnessing the sale by Ania, a Samoan, of the District of Alapata, Upolu, Samoa to John Lawrie, a British subject residing at Alapata, of a parcel of land called "Ulsaia", situated at Alapata, in consideration of the sum of $112 paid to him by John Lawrie. (3) Deed made on the 14 January, 1873, recording the sale by John Lawrie of Upolu, Apia, to Bazley Leger (sic) of a parcel of land called "Ulsaia" situated at Alapata, Upolu, in consideration of the sum of $50 paid to him by Bazley Leger (sic). Scope and Contents
This set consists mainly of the following classes of materials:
1. Registered and unregistered papers which have been withheld or removed, or which have become detached by accident, from the main body of the Consulate archives;
2. archives of other offices which for one reason or another have been transferred to the custody of the Consul;
3. Estrays from the archives of other offices and persons.
The papers comprising this miscellany are described in the list which forms Appendix I to this inventory.
