Includes minutes, correspondence, financial records, and research notes. The papers have been rehoused in 17 boxes. They comprise papers relevant to the working of the NZMC and ADMC. Boxes 1-4 and 14-17 have been indexed to the item level. The remainder is lists of papers within the boxes that have not been indexed in detail. Note that the NZMC papers are housed in the Alexander Turnbull Library, gifted by Sir Graham Latimer.

The papers of Sir Hugh Kawharu were transferred by the Hugh Kawharu Whānau Trust to Special Collections in May 2008. The material was initially listed at item and box level by Anahera Morehu. From this listing an artificial series structure was created to give the collection structure and to aid researchers in searching for particular material.
