Robin Hyde died in London 23 August 1939, aged 33. The papers she had taken with her to England, and others accumulated during her travels were returned to her family in Wellington, among them many of the poetry manuscripts that form the present collection. Hyde’s older sister Hazel Wilkinson initially sorted the mass of papers. In a letter of 5 May 1945 offering them for safekeeping to W.R Edge. Hyde’s appointed trustee/executor, Hazel...
