Abstract

The island is likened to a fish. The right-hand side of the fish is the south of the island and left-hand side is the north. The head is Tangarua (originally Mangonui), the middle is Veitatei (originally Patiki-enua-o-Rangi), and the tail is Tavaenga (originally Keia Apunavai).
