From the Series:

This material relates to Paul Beadle's time in the Royal Navy Submarine Service. It includes sketches, portraits, doodles, notes, and correspondence. Also included is a handwritten and illustrated manual on submarines.

Artworks, books and letters were periodically posted to a friend for safekeeping, these items were returned after the war, as indicated in the letter from Mr Vergauwen.

The play Gulls build their nests was written by Paul after the war. Action is set on a submarine in the Pacific.
