Biographical / Historical

Mark-Brown and Fairhead architects was formed in the early 1950s by Peter Mark-Brown (1920-1978) and Allan Fairhead (1926 – 2010). They met while studying architecture at Auckland University College in the late 1940s. Fairhead graduated with a Diploma in Architecture in 1951 and Mark-Brown with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1952. Their work included a wide range of projects such as residences, office buildings, factories, hospitals, churches and golf clubs. Invicta House, new premises of Makower, McBeath and Company Ltd., won the New Zealand Institute of Architects Silver medal award in 1961. Ron Sang joined the practice after his graduation from the University of Auckland in 1964 and later became a partner in the practice.
