Biographical / Historical
Geoffrey Robert Land graduated from the University of Auckland in 1970 with a Bachelor of Architecture with honours. He became a registered architect in 1973 and was employed by Stephenson & Turner. In the mid-1980s he was Chairman of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Institute of Architects.
Notable projects include Commercial Union House on O’Connell Street, Auckland CBD and the Government Life Building at Manukau City. New Zealand Home and Building described the Government Life Building as “introducing post-modernism to New Zealand”. Land was principal architect for the Starship Children’s Hospital in Auckland, which opened in 1991.
Since 2006 he has been director of Land Architects Ltd. He is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Architects.

Custodial History
This material was donated by Geoffrey R. Land. Also received in the donation was a selection of drawings by his father R. Keith Land and Surrey S. Alleman. Also received were collected items including one or more drawings by Grierson and Aimer; G. Selwyn Goldsbro'; Gerald E. Jones and Arthur J. Palmer; W. A. Holman and L.V. Moses, and several miscellaneous items. It is unknown by whom these items were collected.
