Biographical / Historical
Peter George Norton (1942- ) completed a Diploma in Architecture in 1966 at the University of Auckland. After five years in Europe he returned to New Zealand and started his own architectural practice, Environmental Design Ltd. He is well known for his 'pole house' designs which use treated timber building poles as a frame. This construction method is considered to be particularly suitable for building on difficult sites.
