Five scrapbooks comprised predominantly of newspaper clippings and photographs, compiled by Vince Terreni, documenting the history and proposed redevelopment of Freemans Bay, Auckland.

Biographical / Historical

Vince Terreni (1931-2004), born Vincenzo Lanciotto Terreni, later Vincenzo Lanciotto Bamboo Terreni was educated in New Zealand and Italy and worked as an architect in Palmerston North, Auckland, London and Wellington (1958-68). He taught at the School of Architecture, University of Auckland from 1968-1978.

He was the founding Chairman of Ponsonby-Freemans Bay Planning Association 1970-1972 which fought to stop planned clearance of Freemans Bay houses and redevelopment of the area by Auckland City Council.

He is also well known for his enthusiastic use of bamboo as a construction material.
