Te Kao. Papers relating to the Te Kao Scheme, 1925-1947, were originally in various bundles. However, it appeared that the inception, progress and eventual winding down of the project could best be studied if the papers were arranged in a chronological sequence. The papers comprise letters, inwards and outwards, reports, documents, clippings, some financial records, and F.O.V. Acheson’s notes. Papers concerning the Te Hapua Community, 1932-1946, have been placed with those of Te Kao since the areas are adjacent and the projects were initiated in the same period. The papers include F.O.V. Acheson’s notes for a petition, 1935, to the Government to support a Te Hapua Community Scheme; extract from the Royal Commission on Native Affairs 1934, describing conditions at Te Hapua; letters, clippings, notes, etc.
