Biographical / Historical

William Duffus Hunt (1867-1939) Shepherd, farm manager,stock and station agent, businessman. Born in New Zealand at Oruru, Northland. Hunt was chairman of the Public Service Commission (1912) also known as the Hunt royal commission on the civil Service, a member of the National Efficiency Board (1917) of the royal commission on taxation (1924) and chairman of the committee on unemployment (1930) and member of various agricultural boards. Director of the New Zealand Insurance Company and the New Zealand Branch of the Australian Mutual Provident Society. Hunt was knighted in 1932 for his service to the agricultural industry and the business community.
