Administrative History
The Independent Music Producers and Performers Association of Aotearoa (IMPPA) was formed in August 1987 at a hui held at the Hoani Waititi Marae, Oratia, Auckland. The Association aimed to foster the recording and promotion of New Zealand artists both within in New Zealand and overseas. The Association was based in Auckland but also had a Gisborne Branch, which operated virtually independently of the national body.
IMPPA was run by a committee which at various times included; Jeff Clarkson, Peter Shannon (also secretary of the Musician’s Union) Russell Braithwaite, Arthur Baysting, Bruce Morely, Glyn Tucker, Michael Donnelly, Peter Mansell and Neil Vardon.
