Biographical note
Ronald (Ron) Leslie Bailey (15 December 1926 – 16 April 2015) was the Labour MP for Heretaunga from 1960 until his retirement in 1981. During his long parliamentary career, Bailey was Junior Whip, Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Committees from February 1973 to September 1974. During the Third Labour Government Bailey was Minister of Railways and Minister of Electricity.
In 1987 Bailey was made a Companion of the Queen's Service Order for public services.
