Includes copies of the unpublished playscript for "The Needlewomen", historical notes on the production by the Auckland Repertory Theatre (1951), photographs of the sets and actors, advertising material, a poster, correspondence and clippings. The historical basis for the play was reports in the Auckland press in the 1850s of an action brought against the captain of the barque "Stately" by some indentured seamstresses, for mistreatment during the voyage to Auckland.
