Biographical / Historical

Eric Henry Halstead (1912-1991) was an Auckland businessman. Halstead the was National Party MP for Tamaki between 1949-1957 serving in the Holland Ministry between 1954-1957 as Minister of Social Security, Tourist Resorts, and Minister assisting the Prime Minister (1954). Minister of Industries and Commerce and Customs 1956-1957. He was member of the University of Auckland Council 1964-1970, and the New Zealand Ambassador to Thailand and Laos 1970-1973, and Italy 1974-1979.
