Valerie Willis Te Tooangaroa : the long dragging Easter 1851
.
Scope and Contents
Collection comprises a student research essay by Valerie Willis. The essay offers an alternative analysis of the "Ngati Paoa invasion" of Auckland in 1851 which was essentially intertribal warfare between Ngati Paoa, supported by Ngati Tamatera and Ngati Whanaunga. This was sparked when the Ngati Paoa chief, Te Hoera, was struck by a Maori policeman who happened to be a member of the Ngati Paoa tribe
