Two cloth bound volumes of typescript memoirs (carbon copy) the first of which is annotated:'Volker Heine, September 1927, Vater'. Volume 1. contains a 1965 newspaper clipping and page of handwritten notes.

Biographical / Historical
Wolfgang Karl Wilhelm Heine (1861 -1944) was born in 1861 in Posen, Prussia. A Berlin lawyer he served as a member of the Prussian Parliament as a Social Democrat and worked for the Prussian Ministry of Justice. He was also a member of the Imperial Parliament and the Weimar National Assembly. Heine emigrated to Switzerland in 1933 and died in Ascona in 1944.
His son Klaus Volker Heine (1900-1985) emigrated to New Zealand with his family in the early 1950s. During his later years Volker lived in Auckland and taught classes on the politics of the Weimar Republic at the University of Auckland.
