Biographical / Historical

Barry Gustafson (1938-) political scientist, historian and Emeritus Professor of Politics at the University of Auckland. A member of Auckland University staff since 1968 Gustafson was Head the Division of Arts at the Tamaki campus from 1992-1997, Head of Political Studies 1998-2002 and Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) of the University between 2001-2002. He is a graduate of Auckland, Massey and Glasgow Universities.

His published works include: Social Change and Party reorganisation (1976), Labour's Path to Political Independence (1980), The first 50 years: A History of the New Zealand National Party (1986) and biographies on Michael Joseph Savage, Sir Robert Muldoon and Sir Keith Holyoake.
