Biographical / Historical
Lawyers Against Torture and Oppression Anywhere was an incorporated society which lobbied both the New Zealand and Australian governments in the 1990s about human rights abuses, notably in Indonesia and its then province of East Timor. It also complained to the Broadcasting Standards Authority in 1993 about a TVNZ news coverage of a French naval visit to Auckland.
