Items include a catalogue of Donnelly's book collection; eulogy and photographs of Ian Donnelly (1956); three autographed letters (c. 1893) by author/poet John Warren,, 3rd Baron de Tabley (1835-1895); progarmme for W.B. Yeats poetry reading (date unknown); publishers' print specimens of W.B. Yeats works (date unknown); printers promotional material for James Joyce Ulysses; (John Lane, Publisher and Book Dealer); various items (c.1935) from Cuala Press, Dublin.

Biographical / Historical
Wiliam Ian McLaren Donnelly (1901-1956) was a journalist; editor and writer. He was a member of the literary staff of the Lyttelton times(1921-1926) and later editor of the Timaru herald. Donnelly was also a contributor to the Auckland Sun. Authored several books including Joyous pilgrimage about his visit to England in 1934-1935 and Of wives and wiving, under pseudonym of John Buncle jnr, published by Caxton Press in 1947. Donnelly was an avid book collector, in 2002 a significant collection of his books were donated to the Univesity of Auckland.
