Barry Gustafson collection of New Zealand Labour Party, Auckland Regional Council records.
Scope and Contents
The provenance of the papers in this collection is unclear but they appear to have been donated by Dr Barry Gustafson subsequent to those described by Frank M. Rogers in 1986 in MSS & Archives A-225. The
introduction to his inventory should be read at this point. Frank Rogers mentions ‘questionnaire papers used by Dr Gustafson in his research for his PhD thesis
Continuing transformation : the structure, composition, and functioning of the New Zealand Labour Party in the Auckland region, 1949-70 (1973), as having been destroyed, however they are present in this collection.
This collection was boxed some time in the 1980s but not described. The collection contains files hand-labelled by Dr Gustafson (including the questionnaire papers); together with a large quantity of material, mainly cyclostyled and emanating from various bodies associated with the Auckland Regional Council and Auckland branch committees of the New Zealand Labour Party, which may to some extent be duplicated in MSS & Archives A-225. (See also inventories to MSS & Archives A-65, A-129 and A-154.)
Dr Gustafson’s labelled files have been placed first, followed by general files relating to the Auckland Regional Council.
