Founded in 1931 the Federated Mountain Clubs of New Zealand (FMC) is a National Association of tramping and mountain climbing clubs. The FMC aims to promote tramping, mountaineering, climbing and other related outdoor activities in New Zealand, to promote training and safe use of the backcountry, and to promote its preservation and sound management.
