Scope and Contents
A collection of administrative papers belonging to the national office of the New Zealand Motor Body Builders’ Association (NZMBBA), which were donated to the University of Auckland in 1985 and 1986. Collection includes minute books, membership records, subjects files, account books, and some publications.

Biographical / Historical
The NZMBBA was the professional association for coachbuilders, vehicle collision repairers, panel beaters and spray painters. The collection covers the period 1930 to 1985. The Association was formed in 1913. In 1998 it changed its name to the Collision Repair Association.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The records were donated by the secretary of the NZMBBA in October 1985 and May 1986.
Processing Information
Where possible, the NZMBBA’s administrators’ filing system has been retained. Series one is a set of minute files. Series two is the membership papers, including application and registration forms, and lists of resigned members. The bulk of the collection is series three, the subject files. The original order and titles of these files has been retained. Series four is the hardbound account books. Series five is publications from the NZMBBA and government transport agencies.
