Collection includes CD of footage of Auckland Harbour Bridge construction, 1958-1963, programmes and invitation for opening ceremony 30 May 1959, photographs and related publications.
CD compiled from an original film by Colourcraft Films, commissioned by the construction partners, Cleveland Bridge and Dorman Long. The location of the original film is unknown, but probably in the archives of the Auckland Harbour Bridge Authority.

Biographical / Historical
Brian Wilson worked on the Auckland Harbour Bridge from 1955-1959 as a Site Engineer. Born in Birkenhead, England, Brian worked for the Cleveland Bridge and Engineering Company in Darlington, before being seconded in 1955 to the joint venture Cleveland Bridge and Dormer Long in Auckland to build the Auckland Harbour Bridge. His worked included overseeing the quality control of the concrete used in the bridge construction as well as supervising the assembly of some of the bridge’s giant steel trusses.
