Scope and Contents

The records in this collection were donated to the University Library by M.P. Helen Clark formerly a senior lecturer in the Political Studies Department of the University. The collection consists of minutes, correspondence, reports and memos of Auckland University Labour Club, Princes Street Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party and the Auckland Regional Council (Labour Party), as well as material relating to Labour youth organisations, such as the Auckland Labour Youth Council and the New Zealand Labour Party Youth Advisory Council.

The material covers the period 1952 to 1979 although the majority of the material dates from the late 1960s through to the mid 1970s reflecting Dr Clark's association with the organisations represented in the collection.

The collection is arranged by organisation and then by the type of materials.

Helen Clark was a member of the Auckland University Labour Club, a delegate of the Princes Street Branch and an executive member of the Auckland Regional Council in the years 1968 to 1978.
