Scope and Contents

Formed collection of published, manuscript and photographic material transferred from the former University of Auckland Engineering Library. Collection included published and manuscript personal histories of the School of Enginnering, as well as photographs donated by former staff and students.

Biographical / Historical

The University of Auckland first began offering Engineering subjects in 1905. In 1948, the School of Engineering was moved from the city centre to Ardmore where it remained as a fully residential school until the late 1960s. In 1969, the school moved to its current premises at 20 Symonds Street. This collection contains materials relating to the period when the school was at Ardmore, and then the move to the current city location.

Collection was transferred to Special Collections when the Engineering Library closed. Materials relating to the Engineering Library were added to the University of Auckland Library historical collection. Part 2.
