Content Description

Collection includes subject files containing correspondence, folders of clippings, press releases, articles and newsletters, and letter to the editors, and an extensive collection of colour and black and white photographs of Peace Squadron anti-nuclear protest activities during the 1980s and early 1990s. The majority of the photographs are of protest activities in Auckland but there are a few documenting the Squadron's participation in protests in Australia.

Biographical / Historical

The Peace Squadron a was a waterborne protest group which aimed to prevent nuclear - powered naval vessels entering Auckland Harbour. The organisation was active between 1975 and 1984, members included prominent Anglican clergy such as George Armstrong. The material in this collection was collated by Wilton Willis, a founding member of the Squadron.
