Scope and Contents

Minutes, correspondence and files created and maintained by Sir Ian Hugh Kawharu while a member and chair of the Ngati Whatua o Orakei Trust Board. The papers cover a range of topics including health, education, housing, and welfare. In addition, there are board documents in the collection relating to Takaparawhā/Bastion Point, the Wai 388 claim to the Waitangi Tribunal, and the planned redevelopment of the Te Tōangaroa/Quay Park site in central Auckland.

Collection donated to Special Collections by the Hugh Kawharu Whanau Trust in May 2008.

Processing Information

The material in this collection relating to Sir Hugh Kawharu's work with the Ngati Whatua o Orakei Trust Board was separated out from his personal papers when they were transferred to Special Collections in May 2008 by the Hugh Kawharu Whānau Trust. The material was initially listed at item and box level by Anahera Morehu.
