Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection contains correspondence to and from Sir Douglas Robb; articles and speeches; some personal papers; secondary material and memorabilia. While the collection reflects Sir Douglas's wide-ranging interests in medicine, health reform, education and international relations, they represent only a part of his papers as most of the material dates from 1940 onwards.

As far as possible, the collection has been left in the order in which it was received. There are two major categories of material: The correspondence (series A) and the subject files (series B-K). From 1967, Sir Douglas Robb organised his letters alphabetically by correspondent, this order has been retained in Series A and all other general correspondence has been inter-filed into this alphabetical sequence. Correspondence found within the subject files has been arranged chronologically rather than alphabetically.

A small collection of Lady Helen Robb's correspondence is included with the papers (Series J).
