Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Containers 5-11, 13 hold permanently filed correspondence; containers 12, 14, 15, 16 hold loose correspondence. Apart from Container 5, the permanent files have not been arranged in one continuous chronological or alphabetical sequence. Instead they have been broadly grouped according to the person or organisation corresponded with - local body representatives, MPs, branches, trade unions, etc. Within these groups, the correspondence is alphabetically arranged.

The loose correspondence consists of a file relating to the elections between 1944-1954 (Container 12), and three poorly organised files from the 1960s. As already noted, there has been a deterioration in the filing and organisation of records in these later years. In consequence, more correspondence is to be found interfiled through records in Series 4 (miscellaneous).
