These volumes form two sequences: the minute books proper (volumes 1-12) and the rough minute books (volumes 13-26). In addition, there is a minute book (1941) of the Aid to Russia Committee, which consisted of representatives of the LRC, the Trades and Labour Council (local FOL), and the Communist Party.

The first sequence consists of the typed minutes of each meeting pasted into the volume. In addition to containing the minutes of meetings (ordinary and special) of the LRC, the volumes also contain the minutes of meetings of the LRC executives, and other committees and sub-committees established from time to time, e.g. picnic, investigatory, campaign, unemployment, candidate committees. The minute books merely record the business transacted (letters received, resolutions passed) and do not record any discussion or debate.

The second sequence, the rough minute books, consists of manuscript notes in exercise books; sometimes the notes are in shorthand. On the whole, they are no more full in their reporting of the meetings than are the minute books. As with the minute books, they are multi-purpose, recording the minutes of meetings not only of the LRC, but also its executive committee and other ad hoc committees. The set is incomplete.
