The Auckland Hotel, Hospital, Restaurant Workers Union Social Fund, organised the Union’s weekly Whiz-bang raffle. Tickets were sold in pubs from Kaitaia to Taumarunui and there were cash prizes ranging from £5 to £100. The Collection includes comprehensive records relating to the operation of the raffle which include the allocation of tickets by licensed premises, reconciliation of each draw, and accounts relating to the banking of the proceeds. The records cover the period April 1959 to June 1966 and relate to draws 1 to 339.
